Two Artifort lounge chairs dated to circa 1930–1940, designed by Theo Ruth, featuring textile upholstery and wood construction in yellow, with dimensions 95 cm high, 90 cm wide, 100 cm deep, produced in the Netherlands, and offered in a used condition with possible missing small parts.
Description from the seller
A truly unique set of Artifort armchairs for ladies and gentlemen. Numbered and bearing the Artifort logo. From the early period before Artifort moved on to more modern furniture. Truly the foundation of the Artifort brand, which continued under the name H. Wagemans & Van Tuinen until 1928; from then the new brand name was introduced: Artifort. Derived from the Latin word “Ars,” meaning art or craft, and “fortis,” meaning strong or powerful. The word “comfort” is also found in this brand name. A hallmark of these chairs is the Epeda inner suspension, a groundbreaking concept that was adopted from then on in place of the old coil springs. Theo Ruth, as the designer, had this applied to these two chairs. The chairs are used, but for their age they still have a good appearance.
