Description from the seller

Elegant Napoleon III Period Mantel Clock in Boulle Marquetry – France, Second Half of the 19th Century

An elegant French mantel clock from the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century), distinguished by its superb craftsmanship. The clock features a graceful, curved case reminiscent of a guitar's silhouette; crafted from ebonized wood, it is richly adorned with exquisite Boulle marquetry—an intricate inlay combining brass and iridescent mother-of-pearl in scrolling foliate patterns.
The front of the clock is embellished with high-quality gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, including an ornate, finely detailed bezel surrounding the white enamel dial, which features Roman numerals. Beneath the dial sits a striking, finely chased gilt-bronze pendulum shaped like a radiant sun. The clock rests on an original stepped rectangular base that harmonizes with the case and is likewise decorated with an intricate brass and mother-of-pearl pattern.

The watch is running, but it needs to be checked by a watchmaker.
