Description from the seller

Impressive French regional cabinet with clock, probably originating from Bresse, made in solid wood with veneered figured wood.

The piece features a rich architected façade in Louis XV style: undulating cornice, serpentine panels, carved floral motifs, volutes and decorative insets. The upper part has several open shelves as well as two small lateral cupboards. The lower part opens with two drawers and two large doors, with a central decorative panel.

In the center rises a curved clock case integrated into the hutch. It houses an antique movement with an enamel dial showing Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. The dial bears the inscription:

« Peletin à Louhans »

The movement is topped by a brass ornament depicting a rooster, birds and vegetal motifs. Two openings are present on the dial for winding.

ERA

French regional work from the 19th century, subject to expert assessment.

MATERIALS

Solid wood, figured wood veneers, metal, brass, glass and enamel dial.

CONDITION

Good overall condition considering its age. Signs of use, scratches, variations in color, small splits, wear and possible old restorations, notably around the winding openings.

Functioning of the mechanism: I do not have the key nor the chains and pendulum; there is only the upper clock dial.

The piece is sold in its current condition. The photographs are an integral part of the description.

DELIVERY

Given the dimensions, weight and fragility of the clock, on-site pickup strongly preferred.

The piece must be moved vertically after removal of the pendulum and weights. The decorative objects visible in the photographs are not included in the sale.
