Description from the seller
Collection of 6 Different Crab Species – Philippines – Natural History Set
A fascinating collector’s set composed of six different crab specimens, selected to represent a wide variety of forms, textures and adaptations within marine and coastal crustaceans.
The collection includes a Fiddler Crab (Gelasiminae sp.), immediately recognizable for the strongly enlarged claw typical of males; a Lollipop Crab (Ixa cylindrus), distinguished by its unusual laterally extended carapace and highly geometric silhouette; a Box Crab (Calappa sp.), with its compact body and powerful front claws; a Pebble Crab (Leucosiidae sp.), characterized by a rounded and compact form; Leucosia anatum, another elegant leucosiid crab with a smooth carapace and delicate proportions; and Euxanthus exsculptus, commonly known as the Lumpy Rock Crab, notable for its strongly sculptured, irregular carapace and robust appearance.
Together, the six specimens show an impressive diversity of crab morphology, ranging from elongated projections and asymmetric claws to smooth rounded bodies and heavily sculptured surfaces.
The natural coloration varies from cream and beige to orange, reddish and brown tones, while the individually presented specimens retain many fine anatomical details of the claws, legs and carapaces.
Each crab is housed separately in its own collector’s box with a dark background, making the group ready for display while helping protect the more delicate appendages.
Largest specimen: 6.4 × 4.6 × 2.1 cm
Smallest specimen: 3 × 2.8 × 2.2 cm
A highly attractive miniature collection, ideal for crustacean enthusiasts, natural history collectors, educational displays or cabinets of curiosities.
