Description from the seller

Splendid and elegant mid-century design storage basket / laundry basket dating from the 1950s. This piece perfectly embodies the taste and functionality of post-war interior design, characterized by minimalist, clean lines and the skillful use of mixed materials. The supporting frame is made of a solid black-painted metal tubular frame, lifting the container off the ground and giving it a light, almost "suspended" appearance. The main body is composed of a capacious cylindrical shell made of stiff waxed canvas (color tan/warm brown), with a fascinating tactile texture and extremely resistant. The detail that makes this object unique is the refined upper fastening: the canvas is finished with metal eyelets and fixed to the structure by a red waxed cord, which adds a splash of color and an industrial-chic character that is highly sought after. A versatile vintage piece of furniture, ideal both as a laundry basket for a refined bedroom or bathroom, and as a storage basket, magazine holder, or catch-all in a living room in perfect modernariato style.
• Period: 1950s
• Style: Mid-Century Modern / Modernariato
• Provenance: Unknown (European manufacture)
• Materials: Metal tubular, waxed canvas, metal eyelets, fabric cord
• Conditions: Good vintage condition. Shows normal and charming signs of time on the canvas patina and on the metal structure, which authenticate its age and enhance the piece’s charm (please view the photos carefully, which are an integral part of the description).
Height 53–54 cm approximately; diameter 28 cm
