Description from the seller
Set of 3 Shark Vertebral Columns – Natural Anatomical Specimens
An unusual set of three shark vertebral columns, each composed of a series of articulated vertebral centra that create a striking repetitive structure.
The vertebrae show the characteristic spool-like form typical of sharks and other cartilaginous fishes, with regularly spaced lateral openings and a pale cream to ivory coloration. Seen together, the three columns create a strong architectural composition, with their rhythmic segmentation giving them an almost sculptural appearance.
Each specimen differs in height and diameter, allowing the set to display the natural variation in vertebral size along different sections of the spinal column. The surfaces retain fine biological texture and minor natural irregularities consistent with genuine anatomical material.
The tallest column has a particularly imposing, slender form, while the smaller examples provide an interesting comparison of scale and proportions.
Largest specimen: 22 × 2.7 × 2.7 cm
Smallest specimen: 11.3 × 1.6 × 1.6 cm
A fascinating set for a natural history collection, cabinet of curiosities, educational display or collector of unusual marine anatomical specimens.
