Description from the seller

Antique English Longcase Clock, circa 1800–1830

An elegant early 19th-century English longcase clock, signed “T. Armstrong, Poulton” on the dial and attributed to Thomas Armstrong of Poulton, Lancashire.

The mahogany-veneered case displays rich, flowing flame-grain patterns, complemented by decorative crossbanding, fluted columns and a graceful swan-neck pediment with a central turned finial. Gothic-style pointed arches frame the long trunk door, giving the case a distinctive architectural character.

The hand-painted arched dial features Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute markings, floral decoration and a classical figure scene, together with subsidiary seconds and date dials. The traditional weight-driven brass movement incorporates twin winding barrels, a pendulum and a bell-striking mechanism, consistent with an eight-day clock.
