Description from the seller
Art Nouveau bronze coin tray depicting a nude woman amid flowers, circa 1900-1910
This small tray is very evocative of the Art Nouveau style, probably made between 1900 and 1910
A few elements help to place it:
* The portrayal of a naked female figure integrated into a floral setting is an emblematic theme of Art Nouveau, inspired by nature and idealized female figures
* The brown-gold patina and the weight of 677 g are fully compatible with a molded bronze piece, typical of that era
* The quality of the relief and modeling is well above that of a simple decorative modern tray
* The openings/handles integrated into the form are also characteristic of early 20th-century Art Nouveau production types
* The composition where the figure seems to emerge from or blend into the flowers recalls decorative creations inspired by artists such as Alphonse Mucha or Alexandre Vibert (1847-1909) or by the bronze-casters and founders of the Belle Époque.
Dimensions: 22.3 × 14 cm with a weight of 677 g
The tray, aged over a century, is in very good overall condition
