De Ofrendas is a metal polychrome decorative figure by Becara, a Spanish production from the 1970s–1980s, depicting a standing figure with a lobed tray for offerings on a circular base, measuring 22 cm high, 11 cm wide and 7 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Offering figurine made of polychromed metal by Becara, Spanish production from the second half of the 20th century, inspired by African ethnographic models reinterpreted for contemporary decoration. The piece represents a standing figure on a circular, stepped base, holding between its hands a wide lobed-edged tray intended symbolically for presenting offerings or small objects.
The composition stands out for its marked verticality and the geometrized simplicity of the forms, features that evoke African tribal sculpture from a decorative and stylized perspective. The figure wears a turban and a light-toned garment that contrasts with the dark patina applied to the face, limbs, and tray, generating an appealing play of light and shadow. The folds of the clothing have been modeled with detail, adding texture and dynamism to a deliberately stylized silhouette.
The polychrome finish combines black tones and aged ivories that reinforce its exotic and ornamental character, while the serene expression and frontal posture convey balance and solemnity. The tray, harmoniously integrated into the ensemble, adds a functional dimension to the work, allowing its use as a catch-all tray, decorative centerpiece, or presentation element.
It is a representative piece of the international decorative taste spread by Becara during the last decades of the 20th century, in which ethnic, artisanal, and colonial influences converge, reinterpret ed from an elegant and timeless sensibility, ideal for integrating into both classic and eclectic interiors.
