Description from the seller
Splendid and authentic two-handled vase in traditional Maiolica from Laterza (Taranto) dating to the first half of the 19th century.
The piece stands out for the characteristic tin-glaze with a pale white-ivory tone and for its essential, sober decoration in brown/manganese, a hallmark of the utilitarian and pharmacy production of the Laertine tradition.
On one side the date 1838 is brush-painted, while on the opposite side the letters "F.co G." appear, presumably referring to the owner of the period or to the master potter.
The structure is solid, with two ribbon-like handles nicely formed and a rounded, well-balanced belly. An antique piece of great historical charm and high decorative value for collectors of Italian folk maiolica and antiques.
Possible in-person pickup in Parma.
