Description from the seller

MUSEUM OF ICONS CASTLE OF AUTENRIED NEAR GÜNZBURG / DANUBE

The icon presented (height 29.6 cm, width 25.5 cm) depicts the Mother of God Feodorovskaya. For the theme, the origin of the subject, etc. see Manual of Icon Art, Monaco 1983, p. 356.

The Mother of God is depicted bust-length. She holds the Child Jesus with her right hand and points to Him with the left.

The icon is a work from Northern Russia from the period around 1800 on a XVII-century icon board.

Some color abrasions.

Above the icon is nailed a pearl riza (glass-bead) from the second half of the last century.

Icons with pearl riza are relatively rare.

The icon is interesting for a collector.

This is an appraisal card of the famous Icon Museum of Autenried in Germany. The pearl riza is the precious decorative cover—"honorary embroidery"—that makes the icon a collectible work of art.
