Description from the seller
Absolutely Unique Jewel with a Fragment from Space — a fragment of planetary architecture transformed into a jewel. This pendant guardes a subtle section of pallassite meteorite, set within a solid rectangular silver frame. The smooth surface reveals an unrepeatable grain, composed of olivine crystals in the tones of honey, amber, and golden-brown, suspended inside a light metallic matrix. Each shape seems to float in the metal like a small mineral island, pierced by fractures, transparencies, and glints that change with the incidence of light. Pallassites belong to the rare ferro-nic iron-rock meteorites group and are mainly made up of olivine crystals embedded in a iron-nickel metallic structure. Olivine is the same mineral of which peridot represents the gem variety: in pallassite, however, it does not appear as a solitary gem but as an integral part of a material formed in space. According to one of the most accredited interpretations, these meteorites would have originated in the depths of ancient differentiated asteroids, where mantle-rich olivine materials came into contact with the metal of the inner regions. Other models suggest that this extraordinary fusion may have been favored by cosmic collisions of enormous energy. In either case, pallassite preserves the memory of processes that occurred inside small worlds later shattered and scattered in space. The plate used for this pendant allows viewing this extraterrestrial matter from within. Roundish and irregular crystals emerge from the metal with warm hues, from golden yellow to cognac, while the darker areas and the thin fractures tell of the stresses, cooling, and transformations the meteorite underwent over its very long history. An authentic section of cosmic matter: silicate and metal united in an balance that recalls the internal structure of asteroids. The geometric, luminous frame protects the plate without concealing its complexity, turning it into a small window opened onto the origins of the Solar System. Each pallassite has a different arrangement of crystals. For this reason, the design visible in the pendant is naturally unique and cannot be reproduced: an extraterrestrial cartography composed not of lines and borders, but of olivine, iron, nickel, and time. Details Materials: silver and pallassite meteorite Meteorite: Pallassite Sericho Origin: Isiolo County, Kenya Classification: ferro-nerritic meteorite Meteoric composition: olivine crystals embedded in an iron-nickel matrix Shape: rectangular Natural colors: honey, amber, cognac, olive green, and reddish-brown Work: cut, polished, and set Exemplary unique: crystal arrangement and metallic matrix are naturally non-reproducible.
