AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick' (1978)

The 935/78 was the ultimate expression of the 911 factory race car before Porsche formally withdrew from motorsport. The result was the nickname 'Moby Dick' due to its enormous dimensions and gigantic overhangs. Only one 935/78 was built, with chassis number 935006, which was used by the Martini-sponsored Porsche factory racing team.

The Porsche 935 is a race car developed as the factory race version of the 911 (930) Turbo and was prepared under FIA Group 5 rules. It was an evolution of the Carrera RSR 2.1 turbo prototype, which finished second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1974.

Porsche offered the 935 to customers competing in the World Constructors' Championship, the IMSA GT Championship, and the DRM. Of the 370 races the car entered, it won 123.

The Porsche 935 dominated for many years at many circuits and ended in 1982 with changes in FIA regulations.
