Description from the seller
Antique Old Dutch wall tiles – 16 pieces
Beautiful set of 16 antique Old Dutch wall tiles forming a continuous quatrefoil medallion when combined. The tiles are presumably from the period ca. 1750–1840 and feature hand-painted flower and ornament motifs in manganese on a broken-white background.
There is craquelure in the glaze visible. The 16 tiles together form a square of about 52 x 52 cm and can therefore also be used as a complete decorative pattern.
The tiles were removed from the mortar at the time and are in an authentic used condition. Along the edges there are small chips and glaze and lime damage. One tile is missing a larger piece from a corner; see the overview photo. Please look carefully at all photos; the tiles are sold in the condition shown.
Dimensions:
Ca. 13 x 13 cm per tile
Thickness: ca. 8 mm
Total pattern: ca. 52 x 52 cm
Material: ceramic with glaze
Color: broken white with purple/manganese colored flower and ornament motifs
Period: presumably 18th century to early 19th century, ca. 1750–1840
A beautiful historical tile set for a lover of old Dutch tiles, monumental interiors, restoration, or as a particularly decorative element in the home.
