Märklin 37015 in HO scale: the express steam locomotive of the Bavarian class S 2/6 of the Königlich Bayerische Staatsbahn, in dark green/black base coloring with gold boiler rings. Operating number 3201, service condition around 1906/07.

The S 2/6 is one of the most remarkable locomotives in German railway history. Maffei built only one example, as a prototype, with driving wheels of no less than 2.20 meters in diameter and a forward-thinking, wind-guided design for its time: the firebox, chimney, steam chamber and cylinder group received a streamlined casing, and the driver’s cab was also wind-proof. In 1907 the machine, at 154.5 km/h, established a German speed record for steam traction that stood for almost thirty years. The original locomotive has been preserved and is located in the Museum of Transport in Nuremberg.

The model is a completely new construction and predominantly metal. Features:

Length over buffers: 25.1 cm. Minimum operable curve radius: 360 mm.

This model was released as a one-off edition. The locomotive comes in a decorative wooden display case with a booklet about the history of the S 2/6.

As a supplement Märklin released the K.Bay.Sts.B. express train coaches 41358, 41359, 41369 and 41379; Märklin explicitly designed the S 2/6 as a locomotive for these coaches.

Condition: the locomotive is in excellent, barely used condition. The paint, the gold boiler rings and the lettering are intact and sharp; the fine running gear and the added details are complete and undamaged. The three small bags with attachment parts are still unopened. All supplied accessories are in the box.
