Description from the seller
Elegant folding gateleg/drop-leaf table, presumably dating from the first half of the 20th century.
The table features a particularly practical and decorative structure: the top consists of a fixed central section and two large hinged side leaves. The movable legs can be opened to support the two extensions, allowing the piece to transform from an extremely compact structure to a fully usable table.
The base is characterized by numerous slender turned legs, connected by a lower crossbar, with shaped feet. The wood displays a pleasant dark brown hue and a patina that has developed over time.
When the two leaves are lowered, the table takes up very little space and can also be used as a small side table or console; fully open it offers, instead, a decidedly larger surface.
The object is preserved in its antique condition and shows signs of age and use, in particular scratches, abrasions, wear to the finish on the top, and marks on the underside of the feet. These characteristics are clearly documented in the photographs and are consistent with the age and use of the furniture.
The photographs constitute an integral part of the description.
Origin: Italian private collection.
