Description from the seller

First Quality Selection — This lot features a remarkably large freeform sculpture carved from premium charoite. The specimen, with its organic, sinuous shape, has been masterfully mirror-polished to showcase the intrinsic complex beauty of this rare mineral, sourced from its unique source locality in the world: the Murun Massif in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia, Russia. The visual impact is dominated by an incredible range of violet shades, spanning from pale lilac to deep lavender, and even touching tones of deep, regal purple. These colors are not uniform but weave into swirls, bands, and fibrous aggregates that create an abstract painterly effect. The most distinctive feature of charoite is its silky luster, a phenomenon of chatoyancy that makes the light dance across the surface, lending it unique depth and vitality. This optical effect is a direct consequence of its fibrous microcrystalline structure. To further enrich the color composition are inclusions of other associated minerals. Notably sharp and definite are spots and dendrites of deep black, belonging to aegirine (egirine), which create a dramatic and powerful contrast with the violet tones. On close inspection, small areas of gray-white feldspar and, at times, orange-appearing tinaksite crystals can also be seen, adding additional levels of complexity and mineralogical interest. The free, sculptural form of the specimen, combined with a perfectly flat base that ensures its stability, turns it into a natural work of art. Every face of the piece reveals a new inner landscape, a new perspective on the designs that nature inscribed in the rock millions of years ago. The workmanship respected the natural contours of the rough block, emphasizing its volume and intrinsic movement. Charoite is a complex silent-silicate whose discovery is relatively recent and whose genesis is linked to a rare metasomatic process. Its extreme rarity, confined to a single deposit, makes it one of the most sought-after mineral gems by collectors worldwide. A specimen of this size and quality represents not only a piece of geological history but also an exceptional decorative element, perfect for enriching a modern Wunderkammer, a professional studio, or a design interior, where its presence captivates attention and tells a story of remote Siberian beauty."} } } } }

Seller's Story

The Mineral Art Gallery offers minerals, fossils, shells and natural elements. Born in Italy in 2017, today she collaborates with international galleries and collectors, she is a direct importer of large minerals and naturalistic collectible elements; deals with the processing to insert them inside the living space. A section of the gallery was dedicated to the Wunderkammer, "chamber of wonders or cabinet of curiosities" in which Mirabilia elements are presented: naturalia and italiania, a union between "the present is the past". All lots are shipped via DHL Express and Fercam couriers, with insured parcel and tracking.
