Authentic advertising faience plate, model Righi, made in France (Sarreguemines), dating from 1850–1900, dimensions 30 × 20 × 3 cm, in used condition with major cracks, damages and losses.
Description from the seller
Authentic advertising plate in Sarreguemines earthenware (Righi model), produced in the late 19th century (Utzschneider & Co. stamp - U&C).
A highly historical and collectible piece:
This trinket dish was made for the famous Vendroux Biscuit Factory in Calais, founded and run by the Vendroux family (Yvonne Vendroux’s family), who would become Yvonne de Gaulle, wife of General de Gaulle).
A unique object that crosses the history of the great French earthenware manufacturer and France’s historic heritage.
• Captivating central decor: Trompe-l'œil representation of the famous triangular biscuit “MALIN,” adorned with the emblematic eye at the center of a radiant pyramid (a promotional nod to the biscuit’s name).
The central graphics and the floral decor are beautifully preserved, with colors that have stayed very fresh.
• Authenticity marks on the back: Colored heraldic stamp “RIGHI U&C Sarreguemines” as well as technical numbers engraved in relief in the clay (mold no. 2550 and workshop code I 1).
Condition (as is):
The piece bears the marks of time that attest to its history: a clear loss on the upper left volute, a few edge chips, and a hairline crack across the back (see photos). Ideal for display facing forward on a collector’s easel, the central motif being intact.
