Description from the seller

Grand Spanish or Portuguese diamond-point cabinet – 17th–18th century

Description :
Imposing two-body cabinet from the Baroque period, dating from the 17th or 18th century, originating from the Iberian Peninsula (Spain or Portugal). This high-quality piece is made of darkly stained solid wood (probably oak or walnut) and is distinguished by its rich decoration and original chased bronze fittings.

Upper section :
Opens with two large doors adorned with 12 raised geometric panels, known as the "diamond-point" motif, carved with great precision.
The doors are hung with gilded, chased bronze fittings in a Gothic flamboyant or Renaissance style, very elaborate.
The interior is simple, offering a large storage space.

Lower section :
Across the front, the piece features two large central drawers flanked on each side by a smaller drawer, all with facades matching the doors and wooden handles.
The bottom section opens with two solid doors, also decorated with diamond-point motifs (six panels each) and chased fittings.
The furniture rests on a sturdy plinth with a lower cut and moulded crosspiece.

Condition :
The piece is in good overall condition for its age, with a superb original patina.
It shows normal signs of wear (small nicks, minor edge wear) that attest to its authenticity and do not affect its structure or aesthetics.
The fittings and locks are original.

Features :
Origin: Spain or Portugal.
Period: 17th–18th century.
Material: Solid wood with a dark stain (oak or walnut).
Style: Iberian Baroque.
