A Swedish wortelnotenhout dining table, model tafel, dating from 1900–1910, with a central column base and a 210 cm by 92 cm top (78 cm high, 66 cm underside), featuring a coulisses extension system and three walnut inlay leaves; the table has a small surface damage per the description and original leaves were later replaced.
Description from the seller
On the tabletop and a loose panel there is a small defect, see photo. The tops are three pieces; the original tops had been lost and were later added separately, made of walnut wood. I was told.
Houtsoort & Fineer: The tabletop features a striking decorative pattern that is characteristic of burl walnut wood (burl wood) or flower mahogany.
Coulissensysteem: The table is equipped with a wooden sliding mechanism (the slides). When the two halves of the circular top are pulled apart, there is space in the middle to place one or more loose inlay boards (in-between boards). This changes the round table into a spacious oval dining table. Stijl & Voet: The table rests on a sturdy central column foot that tapers into a stable four- or three-legged base, a design that is common for furniture from the Biedermeier, Directoire, or Gründerzeit period.
