Description from the seller

Rare 19th Century French Clock Movement by A. Brocot & Delettrez - Visible Brocot Escapement - Triple Serial Matching #20214 - Circa 1860

Description:
Up for auction is a premium and historically significant 19th-century French "mouvement de Paris" pendulum clock mechanism, crafted by the highly acclaimed partnership of Achille Brocot and Jean-Baptiste Delettrez. Operating from 62 Rue Charlot in Paris, this workshop was renowned for luxury, precision, and high-tier engineering during the Napoleon III era.

Technical Specifications & Markings:
- Maker: A. Brocot & Delettrez / Paris (Stamping on the backplate).
- Innovation: Features the iconic front-facing visible Brocot escapement (Ancre visible) with original pallets.
- Regulation: Fitted with the genuine patented Brocot suspension adjustment system, explicitly stamped on the gear wheel: "BROCOT PROPRt•" (Brocot Propriétaire).
- Serial Number: 20214 — Exceptionally rare triple-matching serial stamped on the backplate, the upper rim, and the mounting dial ring.
- Special Distinctions: Stamped with the prestigious "ABD" monogram and "ARGENT BLANC" on the upper plate rim, indicating a high-grade finish or exhibition-class lot.
- Pendulum Code: Stamped "24 • 8", which mathematically calculates to a required theoretical pendulum length of approx. 66.8 cm (from suspension to the center of the bob).

Condition Report:
- Dial & Face: Outstanding aesthetic condition. The black slate/marble dial is perfectly preserved with NO hairlines, cracks, or chips around the winding arbors. All applied gilded Roman numerals are present and crisp.
- Hands: Retains its original heat-blued Breguet steel hands in excellent condition.
- Mechanical Movement: The brass plates, gear teeth, and steel pinions are structurally sound, well-preserved, and parallel with no signs of severe impact or bent pivots. The delicate steel suspension spring leaf is remarkably still intact.
- Missing Parts / Restoration Notes: This is a prime restoration project. It lacks the external pendulum bob, the bell, and the strike hammer. It is sold as a movement for parts, horological study, or a complete high-end casing project.

A superb, unmolested piece of French horological history from one of Paris's most respected makers. Perfect for professional clockmakers, advanced restorers, or collectors of rare movements.

Dimensions : 15 cm × 10.5 cm
