AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
This stunning slab is a true wonder of nature, rich in fossil ammonites and belemnites that tell a fascinating story about Jurassic marine life. With a size of almost a meter, it is an exceptionally precious specimen that hardly ever appears on the market. Its enchanting beauty is a work of art carved in stone, a perfect photograph of an ancient and distant epoch. Thanks to its extraordinary preservation and the craftsmanship of the artisans who extracted and prepared it, this slab represents an invaluable treasure for those who love nature, history, and science. A true masterpiece of the earth, a photograph of the marine life of the Jurassic period, excavated from the Anti-Atlas mountain range, located in the southern part of Morocco, famous for its numerous geological formations.
Ammonites played an important role in Earth's geological history, having lived for over 300 million years, from the Devonian to the end of the Cretaceous, about 65 million years ago, when they disappeared abruptly, together with many other animals and plants, due to a mass extinction event.
In the Anti-Atlas mountain range, ammonite fossils can be found in many geological formations, including the Zagora Limestone, the Taroudant Limestone, and the Foum Zguid Limestone. These geological deposits date back to various geological periods, from the early Devonian to the late Cretaceous.
Seller's Story
The Mineral Art Gallery offers minerals, fossils, shells and natural elements.
Born in Italy in 2017, today she collaborates with international galleries and collectors, she is a direct importer of large minerals and naturalistic collectible elements; deals with the processing to insert them inside the living space. A section of the gallery was dedicated to the Wunderkammer, "chamber of wonders or cabinet of curiosities" in which Mirabilia elements are presented: naturalia and italiania, a union between "the present is the past".
All lots are shipped via DHL Express and Fercam couriers, with insured parcel and tracking.
