A Jugendstil wall plaque by Société Céramique from Maastricht, made for the centenary of 1813-1913. Three girls dance hand in hand under an Orange Tree, surrounded by the inscription 'Ter herinnering'. The decoration in green, orange and black stands out clearly against the creamy white glaze.

Description and context:
Round plate with a wide, flat rim and a ring-shaped foot. In the center is the Orange Tree with orange fruit, surrounded by a garland of dots, with 'TER HERINNERING' above and '1813 - 1913' below. The rim shows green leaves with orange fruit. The year refers to one hundred years of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Museum Prinsenhof Delft preserves a plate from the same factory with the same design and the same inscription, 23 cm in diameter, dated 1913. The museum calls the decor a transfer decoration.
Condition:
Good. Front and rim: no cracks, flakes, or restorations observed. Glaze: fine crazing across the entire plate, with no sharp cracks. Back: some discoloration near the hanging wire and light spots in the foot ring. A metal hanging wire is attached at the foot. See the photos. Offered as a decorative object, not intended for use with foods.
In the interior:
Fits in an Art Nouveau, vintage, or eclectic interior, on the wall or on a stand. The green, orange and creamy-white contrast works on a light wall and next to wood.
Shipping:
Professionally packed in a sturdy box with padding material, for fragile objects a double box. Always insured, shipped with Track and Trace. See the feedback from previous buyers.
Attribution and sources:
Marked Société Céramique, Maastricht: the maker is confirmed by the factory mark. An designer is not established and is not claimed. The dating rests on the inscription 1813-1913 and on the museum specimen; the exact firing date of this piece has not been established.
