Art Deco siphon in uranium glass (Ouraline) from France, circa 1920–1930, with an acid-engraved name “Caron Mayeux,” dimensions 30 cm high by 10 cm wide by 10 cm deep, in good condition with minor wear and age-related marks.
Description from the seller
Siphon Art Deco in Ouraline (Uranium Glass) - "Caron Mayeux" - France, ca. 1920-1930
Superb and rare antique Seltzer water siphon from the Art Deco period (1920s-1930s) in ouraline (uranium glass).
The heavy glass bottle features a stunning acid-etch engraving with the name "Caron Mayeux", testament to the heritage of the old artisanal lemonade makers / breweries in France.
Characteristics and visual effect:
The glass contains trace amounts of uranium oxide, giving it a subtle green tint in daylight, which transforms into an intense, fluorescent green glow when exposed to ultraviolet rays (UV lamp / blacklight). An absolutely striking curiosity for collectors of Uranium glassware.
The siphon head is made of the original metal (tin/lead alloy) with its characteristic spout and trigger of the era.
• Era: Art Deco (ca. 1920-1930)
• Condition: Very good overall for its age, with light signs of normal use (see photos that are an integral part of the description) and the glass rod inside is missing
