Description from the seller
An important pair of English vases in hallmarked sterling silver, made in 1898.
The pair immediately stands out for the architectural elegance of the shapes: the tall, slender bodies are enriched by a sophisticated vertical spiral motif of great aesthetic modernity, capable of giving the objects a sculptural presence that is extremely refined and contemporary even today.
Both vases bear English hallmarks for sterling silver 925, in addition to the engraving of the prestigious English dealer:
“Ollivant & Botsford – Manchester”
an element that testifies to a high-end provenance linked to elegant British silverware of the early twentieth century.
Unlike the more common decorative silverware of the era, this pair features a design surprisingly modern, close to the early English Art Deco influences and to the refined taste of British industrial elegance of the 1920s.
The condition is exceptional: the vases show no major dents or structural deformations, a rare condition for decorative-use objects with over a century of history. The lines remain perfectly harmonious and the surfaces retain a splendid luminous presence.
Overall weight is very substantial:
about 788 grams of sterling silver.
Objects of strong collectible and decorative impact, ideal for collectors of English silver, interior designers, Art Deco settings, boutique hotels, or residences with international taste.
Pairs of this calibre, with such condition and aesthetic presence, are increasingly difficult to find on the market.
