AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful set of 50 Oviraptor eggshells, from an extinct genus of dinosaurs. Oviraptor lived during the Cretaceous in the Mongolia and China region.
From Oviraptor only incomplete skeletons have been found. For that reason the exact appearance of the animal is uncertain. It is certain, however, that Oviraptor looked a lot like a bird and was related to it. Oviraptor was warm-blooded and had feathering. Its claws were fairly large and it walked on its hind legs and had a beak. What it ate with it is not certain. Because the first fossil of an oviraptor was found on a nest, it was thought that it raided eggs, hence the name meaning "egg thief." Later it was established that the nest must have been Oviraptor's own eggs. Complete eggs of Oviraptor are extremely rare and very expensive. Also loose eggshells are becoming rarer. These eggshells have been in my collection for several decades. Notably, oviraptor eggshells vary in color. Some shells are black/gray while others are red or yellow. The shells have fine ridges as seen in the photos. The eggshells have not yet been cleaned. Dimensions from 26 mm to 7 mm.
