Bronze desk seal with a virgin matrix, in Neo-Rococo Eclectic Historic style, dating from circa 1880–1910, about 8 cm tall and 25 g in weight, manufactured in France for Uomo wear.
Description from the seller
Splendid and authentic antique desk seal, dating from the period between the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century (circa 1880-1910).
This piece stands out for its fascinating Historicist Eclectic style, which masterfully blends a rich raised frieze of Neorococo taste (with C-scrolls, floral motifs and acanthus leaves) with a modern and original fully textured background featuring a honeycomb geometric motif (crocodile skin), conceived at the time to ensure a firm grip during use. The square base is decorated with a refined radial molding (godronatura).
A FEATURE OF INTEREST FOR COLLECTORS AND ENTHUSIASTS:
Unlike most antique seals, the square bronze matrix is completely virgin (smooth). This is an original warehouse backing never personalized. This makes it the ideal piece both for collectors seeking an untouched object and for those who wish to have it engraved today by a craftsman with their own monogram or family crest.
The item displays its splendid original patina of time, with small and fascinating details of natural oxidation that certify its authenticity. The conical top summit is open, a typical feature of the era designed to accommodate an ornamental knob. A piece of great visual presence, perfect to enhance a prestigious desk or a collection of antique writing instruments.
