Description from the seller
Rare Antique Serving Spoon in Solid Silver – Art Nouveau (19th/20th Century)
Exceptional antique spoon in solid silver (fineness 833), a magnificent testament to the Art Nouveau period (late 19th / early 20th century). The piece features sumptuous and fluid decoration characteristic of the era, with the handle richly worked in relief displaying floral and organic motifs of extreme elegance, culminating in a smooth central cartouche that allows personalization or monogram engraving.
The bowl (shell) presents sober and harmonious lines that perfectly contrast with the decorative refinement of the handle engraving. A piece of display and collection, ideal both for use on refined tables and to enrich a collection of Iberian silver.
• Style: Arte Nova / Art Nouveau
• Epoch: Late 19th / Early 20th Century
• Material: Solid Portuguese Silver
• Marks / Hallmarks: Confirmed with the Portuguese official mark "Cabeça de Javali II" from Porto (circulation period 1887–1937), guaranteeing the 833 fineness. Also includes a period silversmith’s hallmark.
• Condition: Impeccable. No dings, restorations or significant wear on the decoration. Preserves a superb natural patina that enhances the carved details.
Origin: Private collection
