Description from the seller
In this lot we offer well-sized trilobites, of the species Morocops Ovatus, in matrix (full piece size 11.5 cm).
The body of the trilobite measures 6.5 cm.
Completely natural and perfectly preserved, natural shine, no paints.
Perfect eye quality, it is a top-quality specimen.
Worked using a jetting technique, it is an exquisite piece.
It comes from the Oufaten mountains, near Taharajat, Errachidia Province (Morocco).
Belongs to the Middle Devonian Period, Emsian-Eifelian ages.
Morocops is a genus of the Phacopidae family; there are several representatives of this genus.
Often anatomical differences between species can be very subtle and only the keenest eyes can distinguish them; in the case of M. Ovatus compared to another representative of the genus, M. Granulops, a notable difference would be the row of oval tubercles along the thorax, specifically at the contact between the axial rings and pleural segments. These tubercles are clearly distinguished in M. Ovatus, hence its name, more subtle in M. Granulops.
This specimen is accompanied by an L-shaped acrylic display stand as a gift.
