Description from the seller
Steiff Zotty
46 cm tall – 1950s/1960s – Germany
Handmade. Fur from grey to light brown mohair, in good condition with white chest patch (bib). Beige shaved nose. Y-shaped mouth of peach-colored felt. Peach-colored felt hand- and foot-pads with embroidered claws sewn over the paw pads (typical Steiff). Wood wool filled.
The paw pads have cardboard reinforcement discs (cardboard inserts) directly behind the felt. This was done because large bears, due to their heavy wood wool filling, would otherwise sink quickly through their feet. This allowed the bear to stand firmly.
5-way disc joints (clearly palpable at the arms, legs and head) making the limbs and head fully rotatable. Hand-embroidered brown nose and mouth. Brown glass safety eyes. Round growler disc is palpable in the back, but has ceased functioning due to age. “Knopf im Ohr” is missing.
The bear is in good condition for its age. The fur has a full structure. The felt of the muzzle is intact, with the hands slightly damaged. As well as the embroidered lines on the left hand.
