Description from the seller
A rare large and heavy handmade silver miniature in the shape of a show jumping rider on horseback clearing an obstacle.
The piece is exceptionally beautiful in form and very detailed, handmade.
The silversmith paid great attention to detail and invested many man-hours in this silver artwork.
The horse and rider have during the jump a very realistic, coordinated pose.
Furthermore, this piece is manually endowed with many charming details such as: detailed horse and rider, cap on the head, embellished obstacle, silver reins, feet in stirrups, saddle and many more (too many to mention).
The miniature is inspected and marked with silver hallmarks: fineness mark ZII and 916, which denotes the high silver content 916/1000.
Also bearing the master mark N10 = the old master mark of the Niekerk brothers. This master mark was used from 1901 to 1943. They worked as silversmiths in Schoonhoven.
It is a large miniature, dimensions are 5.7 by 4.3 cm and the height is 4.7 cm.
With a weight of 45.8 grams for a miniature, it is also quite heavy (not stuffed or filled, i.e., net weight).
The piece is in very good condition for its age of at least 80 years.
This splendid rare handmade silver miniature is, by its size, its beautiful form and its many details, a striking and particularly decorative object.
This type of large, highly detailed handmade antique silver miniatures is rare and is offered only very rarely (without a minimum price).
