Description from the seller

A very rare collectible lot with high exchangeability is offered, consisting of two original Bugatti Veyron 16.4 brake pads, specified for the braking system with carbon-ceramic composite discs.

The parts are in extraordinary condition, like new, with logos and original codes perfectly sharp and legible. They show no signs of road wear or thermal stress. From Bugatti factory stock clearance at Molsheim. Original Bugatti products. Extremely rare.

The lot comprises two pads.
A rear pad: OEM Bugatti code 5B4.615.415.D, equipped with the characteristic iconic three-lobed support plate, designed for installation in the rear AP Racing six-piston caliper. Residual thickness certified by digital caliper: 16.5 mm. One of the two pads needed to compose the rear braking system.
A front pad: OEM Bugatti code 5B4.615.116.M in a compact asymmetric version with a directional rotation arrow. This is one of the four pads that make up the monumental eight-piston modular front braking system of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 (with a total friction surface of 320 cm² each). Residual thickness certified by digital caliper: 16.2 mm.

Both in original Pagid HPC 114 GG (High Performance Carbon) compound, produced in Germany by Pagid, specification for use on systems with carbon-ceramic discs. They bear marks and punches including the iconic official Bugatti logo with the EB initials recalling the founder Ettore Bugatti. Lot production 22013 / 3173.

Considering that the standard thickness for new pads of this type (including the steel support plate) is typically around 16–17 mm, the data certify that the pads are practically as new with 100% of their usable material, which excludes any prior usage other than perhaps factory or test mounting.

Two possible uses:
• Exclusive collectible item: an exceptional display set for Bugatti enthusiasts, ideal to showcase in a glass case or a high-end garage to document the extraordinary engineering of the hypercar that broke the 400 km/h barrier;
• Technical use or sampling: components structurally intact with 100% of usable friction material, ideal as comparison samples or specialized spare parts.

At the time, the brakes of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 represented the most powerful braking system in the automotive sector. The carbon-ceramic discs, with a diameter of 400 mm and a thickness of 38 mm on the front axle and 380 mm diameter and 36 mm thickness on the rear, were pioneering technology for the era in terms of material, size, and architecture, paving the way for further developments in the supercar sector. Thanks to the active rear wing, decelerations at high speed well above 2G were achieved, corresponding, for example, to 320 km/h, to a braking power of 5,600 kW. The ESP remained fully operational up to a maximum speed of about 385 km/h, reachable in handling mode, which was tested and released in elaborate and unprecedented field tests in September 2005 on the Black Rock salt lake in the American desert, in very low-traction conditions.

Below is a decoding of the codes present on the pads.

Rear pad:
• 5B4.615.415.D (Bugatti/Volkswagen OEM Code): official replacement code. The prefix 5B4 identifies the generation of the carbon-ceramic braking system (developed in collaboration with AP Racing), while the final suffix identifies the specific configuration of the plate for the rear axle.

PAGID HPC 114 GG (Mixture and Friction Coefficient):
• PAGID / HPC: identifies the manufacturer (TMD Friction group) and the proprietary High Performance Carbon (HPC) compound developed specifically for Bugatti carbon-ceramic discs;
• 114: chemical formula code for the mix;
• GG: international standardized friction coefficient index (SAE J2975 / AMECA), where double "G" certifies a very high and constant friction level both cold and at extreme temperatures (above 600°C);
• 978419 006: internal industrial traceability codes linked to the bill of materials and the plate stamping line of the metal support;
• A20: technical specification code for the homologation market of the component;
• 22013 (Production Date / Lot): industrial punch marking that traces the piece to the second half of the model’s life cycle (production lot or day of the year 2013), ensuring original line spare parts.

Front pad:
• 5B4.615.116.M (Bugatti/Volkswagen OEM Code): official Bugatti replacement code. The prefix 5B4 confirms belonging to the Carbon-Ceramic system, while the final letter M identifies the single asymmetric friction pad for the eight-piston front modular caliper.
• 978419 3173: industrial production identification code for the shaped support plate.

HPC114 GG A1S (Mixture and Certification/Approval):
• HPC114 GG: same high-performance carbon-ceramic mix (High Performance Carbon) with an identical friction coefficient "GG" on the rear axle to ensure perfect braking balance;
• A1S: traceability code for the finishing variant or thermal coating of the anti-noise shield plate;
• Directional Arrow (➔): indicates the correct rotation direction of the brake disc during installation in the caliper, crucial for proper load dissipation and to prevent noise;
• 22011 (Production Date / Lot): industrial punch marking that identifies the lot of production of the front plate.
