AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A pair of Art Nouveau decorative vases produced in France, circa 1900, after designs by the celebrated French sculptor Auguste Moreau (1834–1917). Each vase is cast in spelter (a zinc alloy widely used in the Belle Epoque period as an economical alternative to bronze) and finished with a warm brown overall patina, with the raised floral relief decoration and two stylized handles picked out in a contrasting gilt patina. Each vase is mounted on a round red mottled marble base. Both pieces bear a cast foundry stamp and a stamped modeller's mark identifying Auguste Moreau; these are commercial castings produced after Moreau's designs rather than pieces finished and signed by the artist himself. No restoration has been noted. Height of each vase is 30.5 cm; maximum diameter 12 cm; combined weight of the pair is approximately 3 kg.

Size: 30.5 x 12 x 12 cm.
