Description from the seller
A miniature Vienna bronze figurine depicting a pheasant, cold-painted in polychrome colours, produced in Austria around 1900. Vienna bronzes of this type — known in the trade as Wiener Bronze — were made in Austria from approximately the 1870s through to the early twentieth century as small-scale decorative cabinet pieces representing birds, animals, and genre subjects; they are collected internationally for the fine detail of their painted surface. This example measures 8 cm in height and 8 cm in width and weighs 118 grams, placing it in the smaller end of the typical size range for the genre. It comes from a private collection acquired in Germany from an established collector. Condition is Fair: there is an adhesive restoration repair to the legs and the figure barely stands unaided without support; there are also areas of paint loss across the surface in several locations. No maker's mark or foundry stamp is present.
