Description from the seller

Saint Nicholas the Thaumaturge (Saint Nicholas of Myra) is:
- Wearing episcopal vestments and the Gospel in his left hand.
- With the right hand he performs the blessing gesture.
- He has an elongated face, a beard, and a severe expression, characteristic features of Saint Nicholas.
- The head is covered by a very ornamented episcopal mitre.
- On both sides appear small angelic or heavenly figures integrated into the decoration.
- The oklad is especially elaborate, with floral and geometric decoration, leaving the face and hands uncovered.

The icon is executed on a panel, with the original painting and with a significant gold metal covering. The decoration of the oklad is repoussed.
