Dutch silver komkommercouvert Haags Lofje model by J.A. Hooykaas, 15.8 cm long, 71 g gross, .835 silver, marked with a running lion to the right and year letter G (1941), Minerva M Schoonhoven, with silver hafts and a Durfine-metal scoop, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
This concerns a Dutch silver cucumber-serving spoon with the Haags Lofje model by J.A. Hooykaas. The handles of the cucumber-serving spoon are made of silver, and the scooping part of Durfine metal. It is logical that the scooping part is not made of silver, because silver discolors when it comes into contact with acids.
The Haags Lofje model originated in the 18th century from the Hollands Glad model. Because the Lofje was especially popular among the nobility in the Hague Court, it carries the name Haags Lofje.
Edel Erfgoed offers this silver cucumber-serving spoon on Catawiki with a MINIMUM/RESERVE PRICE of 135 euros.
