AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Antique marble relief with gilded frame – mythological scene
Beautiful and decorative antique relief, executed with a refined mythological scene. The central marble panel shows an elegant reclining female figure, surrounded by floating putti/angels, a composition that strongly aligns with classical and neoclassical art tradition.
The relief is specially well executed with attention to anatomy, the flowing hair and the graceful movement of the figures. The light, ivory-colored marble forms a beautiful contrast with the richly decorated gold-colored frame. The frame is constructed from several concentric ornamental bands, including a pearl border and a characteristic sun-ray or cannelure edge.
A particularly decorative and characterful object that looks wonderful in a classical, eclectic, country or vintage interior. Because of its round shape and rich ornamentation it forms a striking wall-decorative element.
