Antique hexagonal solid wood side table with barley twist legs, dating to ca. 1910–1920, in good condition with minor signs of wear, measuring 49 cm high by 30 cm wide and 30 cm deep, from Europe.
Description from the seller
Antique oak/walnut occasional table with an octagonal top and barley twist legs – ca. 1920
A very charming and characterful antique wooden occasional table (possibly oak or dark-stained walnut) from the early 20th century. Originating from Western Europe, presumably England or France (Jacobean / Louis XIII style).
This atmospheric piece stands out immediately with its unique octagonal (hexagonal) top and the beautifully spirally twisted legs, also known as Barley twist. The four legs are at the bottom securely connected by a decorative twisted cross-brace.
The table has a warm, deep patina that beautifully reflects its age. Ideal to use as an authentic plant stand, a small stool, or as a decorative side table next to a chair or sofa.
Construction & Details: The underside of the table displays authentic, artisanal wood joints without the use of modern metal screws. The spirally twisted legs are firmly anchored into the wooden framework beneath the top. The wooden cross-brace is centrally adorned with a downward-facing twisted wooden knob (finial), which testifies to high-quality craftsmanship. The legs already have felt pads on the underside to protect your floor.
Specifications:
Style: Rustic / Country / Classical English
Period: Ca. 1900 – 1930
Material: Solid wood (oak/walnut)
Dimensions: height 49 cm x width 30 cm x depth 30 cm.
Condition: In good, sturdy antique condition with normal signs of wear appropriate to age that give the furniture its unique character. See the detail photos for an accurate view of the condition and the beautiful construction on the underside.
