Pair of mid‑20th‑century brass wall sconces in the Directors style, French Neoclassical inspired and featuring white opaline glass shades, with dimensions 50 cm high, 14 cm wide, and 10 cm deep, made in France and in good used condition, in working order.
Description from the seller
Pair of mid-20th-century wall sconces inspired by French Directoire-style models of neoclassical tradition, made in gold-toned metal and conceived according to the elegant vertical torch scheme. Each piece features a straight, stylized arm topped by a fluted terminal element that visually extends the composition downward, while the upper part supports a cylindrical opal white glass shade that diffuses light softly and evenly.
The structure combinespurified geometric shapes with discreet ornamental details inspired by Louis XVI, noticeable in the turned moldings, pearl rings, and the pierced gallery framing the base of the shade. The golden finish adds warmth and a monumental character, evoking the luminaires used in lobbies, galleries, and classic-taste residences during the central decades of the 20th century.
Its balanced design, with a marked verticality and refined architectural presence, allows them to fit both in classic interiors and transitional spaces, where they stand out for the purity of their lines, the nobility of the materials, and the decorative quality of their lighting. They preserve the charm of postwar historicist reinterpretations, capable of uniting traditional French elegance with the sober functionality characteristic of mid-century design.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
