Description from the seller

Modular set of four polychrome edge tiles designed for wall cladding (bases, panels or friezes). When assembled, they generate a circular floral symmetrical motif inspired by Renaissance-Mudenjar (Mudéjar). Within the category “decorative ceramics/azulejería,” this type of module is representative of early 20th-century Spanish historicist production. Ideal for framing or creating a wonderful shelf.

HISTORICAL AND STYLISTIC RELEVANCE
The set belongs to Spanish historicist azulejería at the turn of the century, linked to regionalist architecture (especially in Andalusia and the Valencian Community). Triana and Manises maintained the edge tradition, adapting it to revival tastes, producing motifs evoking Renaissance and Mudéjar with semi-handcrafted techniques.

COMPOSITION AND PALETTE
The composition and palette recall the early 20th-century historicism (neo-Mudéjar and Neo-Renaissance currents) widely disseminated in Triana (Seville) and Manises (Valencia).
Characteristic set of the regionalist revival conceived for architectural mural decoration: bases, stairs, courtyards and facade fronts. The 2×2 modularity favors serial production on wide panels with geometric rhythm.
The obverse presents a polychrome composition with a closed radial profile, where the joining of the four pieces unfolds an elegant ornamental geometric and vegetal pattern with radial structure (historically known as the “wheel” design).
It features the Sevillian canonical palette of the era: cobalt blue, green, copper and brown-ochre tones on an opaque white background.

DECORATIVE TECHNIQUE: edge “per board,” with a shallow relief that delineates color fields and prevents glaze slipping. Polychrome decoration applied after the first firing; second firing to fix the glaze.

- DIMENSIONS:
The pieces stand out for a compact modular size of 8.6 x 8.6 cm (assembled module of 17.2 x 17.2 cm) and a thickness of almost 1.7 - 1.8 cm.

- CONDITION:
Very good for their age
Preserves the floral symmetric rosette and the clean palette.
Shows small dings on some corners, slight glaze losses and crazing in the glaze due to age.
Keeps remnants of historical mortar adhesive attached during their architectural repositioning.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

** The package size has been selected based on the packaging volume required for total protection, not on its actual weight.
