Description from the seller
This expressive set of four carnelian freeforms showcases the enormous optical range of this material. From deep reddish brown to warm honey and amber, and up to intensely luminous orange, each piece has its own completely unique character. Together they form a particularly harmonious ensemble, notable especially for their strong colors and the varied internal structures.
The two left freeforms predominantly display darker red, cognac, and brown tones. Partly translucent areas alternate with densely colored patches, creating a beautiful sense of depth. In particular the first piece shows cloudy and finely banded structures, while the second freeform stands out with its warm honey-colored areas and the play between transparency and strong coloration.
The third freeform is a special eye-catcher with its intense fire-orange. Light, almost glowing areas are interwoven with dark mineral inclusions and fine banding. The color contrasts give the piece a decidedly lively, almost flame-like effect.
Another highlight is the right freeform. Here, finely banded carnelian and agate layers enclose an open crystalline druse structure. Cream-white, orange, and transparent crystals form a sparkling center, framed by numerous parallel-running bands. This allows the layered construction of the material to be particularly beautifully observed in this piece.
Carnelian is an orange to reddish-brown variety of chalcedony and thus belongs to the microcrystalline quartz group. Its characteristic warm tones mainly arise from iron compounds. Transitions to banded agate are fluid, which is particularly impressively visible in the different drawings and structures of this set.
In the metaphysical stone tradition, carnelian is regarded as a stone of vitality, motivation, and zest for action. It is attributed with an activating, life-affirming effect and the promotion of self-confidence and creativity. Its warm fire colors beautifully emphasize this traditional symbolism.
An exceptionally varied carnelian freeform set that spans nearly the entire characteristic color spectrum of the material from deep reddish brown to bright orange, and adds highlights with transparency, agate banding, and an impressive crystal druse.
