Description from the seller
Herend – porcelain cachepot – Apponyi Purpur – model 7213/AP – presumably the 1970s
Elegant porcelain cachepot from the Hungarian manufacturer Herend, executed in the beloved Apponyi Purpur decoration, internationally also known as Chinese Bouquet Raspberry. The hand-painted purplish-pink flowers and leaves stand out beautifully against the white glazed porcelain. Gold accents along the upper rim, on the gracefully shaped handles and around the raised foot emphasize the classic look.
The Apponyi decoration originated in the 1930s, when the Hungarian count and statesman Albert Apponyi commissioned a simplified version of Herend’s existing Fleurs des Indes pattern. The central floral motif and the refined border embellishment connect the Asian-inspired visual language of that original pattern with the European porcelain tradition. Apponyi grew to be one of Herend’s best-known decorating families and is produced in various colors.
This cachepot is marked on the underside with the blue factory mark “Herend Hungary – Handpainted” and the designation 7213/AP, referring to the model and the purple Apponyi decoration. The piece is presumed to date from the seventies, based on similar items offered; the exact production year has not been established.
Dimensions: approximately H 14 cm x Ø 16.7 cm and a total width including the handles of 20 cm.
Weight: 926 grams
A refined object for a plant or floral arrangement, but also especially decorative as a standalone porcelain accent.
Please examine the photos carefully for condition, decoration and markings; these are part of the description.
This item is in excellent condition with no flaws and will be securely packaged for Smart Shipping, sent registered and insured with track and trace.
