Description from the seller
An antique brass ceiling lamp with carved Baccarat crystal, made in France. 1850–1880
The style fits especially with the Second Empire / Napoleon III, although it uses an ornamental repertoire from earlier periods.
* The main body is gilded/chased brass.
* The decoration of the upper shade, with deep gadroons, leaves and volutes, is characteristic of 19th-century French decorative lighting.
* The central assembly combines bronze + carved Baccarat crystal, including a large central crystal element with engraved decoration.
* The pendants/polish (tears) feature faceted and irregular carving, with different forms of pendeloques.
* The arms end in very pronounced volutes and seem to form a set of five arms.
* The upper structure recalls a classical urn/vase, something that appears in French transitional models between Louis-Philippe, Second Empire and Napoleon III.
It is missing a small volute arm. Barely noticeable. See in photos.
