Description from the seller
Raro Balisaggio Aeroportuale EUROPHANE F 22 – Twin Light Obstacle Marker – Aluminum and Fresnel Lenses – 1960s/1970s – 100% Original and Working
For collectors and aviation memorabilia enthusiasts, I offer an exceptional and rare piece of history of airport marking and civil flight safety: a twin-head obstacle signal light (Twin Light), produced in France by the historic Europhane (Model Type F 22) between the late 1960s and the 1970s.
This heavy terrestrial and structural device, dating from the analog aviation era, was mounted at the top of critical vertical obstacles (radio towers, pylons, tall buildings) near airport approach cones to ensure safe night navigation or IMC flight (instrument flight). The dual-head configuration provided redundancy: if one lamp burned out, the system kept the visual signal operational.
The item is preserved in superb, near-new/NOS condition, completely built with its vintage components and never tampered with or repainted. Sturdy cast aluminum body with original aviation-yellow industrial paint. The metal fittings (hex bolts, threaded hinge pins) and the lower waterproof bushing are impeccable and rust-free.
Dual glass Fresnel-lensed domes with coarse red lenses (Made in France stamped) designed to refract the light beam 360° to optimize distance visibility for pilots. Glasses are perfect, bright, with no weaving or chipping.
100% original and clean Internal Technical Compartment. Preserves the original ceramic terminal block with French silk-screened labels: SECTEUR MAINS (power supply) and TEMOIN MONITORING (the telecontrol circuit that sent lamp status to the control tower). The original ADDE filter capacitor (230V 50-60Hz) and the original earth connection attached to the plate are present.
Vintage External Wiring: Historically equipped for demonstration/display use with cord, slide-through switch, and era-era ivory rigid plastic plug, fully functioning.
A fascinating aeronautical artifact, excellent for enriching a themed collection or displaying as an atmospheric lamp with strong historical character.
