Rare vintage creative Kokeshi by Takahashi Hajime

This is a very special vintage Sosaku Kokeshi by Takahashi Hajime. She has a small head and a beautiful pink flower motif. She is exceptional and stands 30 cm tall
Design: This specific piece falls under the Sōsaku Kokeshi (creative or modern kokeshi) category, where the artist deviates from traditional patterns. It features an elegant, slender silhouette wrapped in a pink kimono decorated with blossom motifs.

The doll is photographed with her original storage/display box. The label on the box notes the poetic title of the artwork: 梅衣 (Umei or Umegoromo), which can be translated as "Plum Blossom Robe" or "Clad in Plum Blossoms".

Kokeshi dolls have traditionally been produced in Japan's northern Tohoku region. Today, vintage examples with an accompanying signed box and title are highly valued by international art collectors.
