AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Magnificent and authentic vintage Japanese Sosaku (creative) Kokeshi dolls, titled "Hajirai" (which can be translated as Shyness or Modesty).
This iconic and minimalist design is hand-carved and painted by the highly regarded and prize-winning Kokeshi master Kenichi Murakami.
The figurine stands out for its extremely elegant and restrained form: the doll subtly hides her face behind the raised sleeve of her kimono, giving her a serene and fragile appearance. The beautiful, natural wood grain is skillfully incorporated into the design, and the hair is carved with fine, clean lines.
Condition
The kokeshi is in good vintage condition. The wood has developed a warm patina over the years. There are minimal, normal signs of aging (such as light superficial scratches/discolorations inherent to the age), but no major damage or cracks. See the photos for an accurate impression of the condition.
