Description from the seller

Important devotional lot composed of a reliquary/stauroteca in the shape of a cross, complete with its original wooden box, internally lined with red silk and with its authenticity.

The reliquary preserves at the center a small fragment attributed to the Holy Cross of Christ and is decorated with ornamental elements in silver filigree, with a patina consistent with its age. At the base it bears the seal.

The attached document is an authentic ecclesiastical manuscript and printed, dated 1758, addressed to Fr. Joannes Antonius, Episcopus Portiensis Cardinalis Guadagni, Vicar General of the Pope, with reference to the concession and authenticity of the relic. The sheet also bears a dry seal, signatures and handwritten annotations of the period.

The reliquary is housed in its elegant original wooden box, decorated with incised motifs and equipped with an intact and original metal closure.

Cross: height of stauroteca 5 cm
Height of stauroteca with seal 7.5 cm

Box: 9 x 7 cm
Authentic 32 x 22 cm

The reliquary does not contain human remains.

This object is offered exclusively for its historical, cultural or decorative value. No religious significance is claimed, implied or supported.
