Stilart - Side table - Central Drawer - Brass, Wood - Floral Decoration

Elegant Italian entryway side table produced by Stilart in the 1970s, a piece that perfectly reflects the taste for oriental exotism and the refined luxury that characterized much of European decorative design in those years. Its light, stylized structure combines a modern-inspired architecture with elaborate artisanal work on deep black lacquered wood, evoking the refined Oriental lacquers that fascinated Western designers and decorators since the early 20th century.

The rectangular body is organized around a central drawer, decorated with delicate floral motifs and winding branches rendered in gold tones and polychrome hues, an ornamentation that also extends to the upper surface. These scenes recall the botanical compositions of the Japanese Edo period, reinterpreted through the Italian decorative sensibility of the seventies, when oriental influences experienced a notable revival in luxurious European and North American interiors.

The structure rests on slender metal legs finished in gilt brass, a characteristic Stilart feature that provides visual lightness and a striking contrast with the intensity of the black lacquer. The lower curved reinforcements, with geometric and elegant lines, introduce a sophisticated nuance close to neoclassical glamour and Hollywood design that flourished in the era.

The result is a piece with strong decorative presence that combines functionality and aesthetic refinement. Ideal as a console for an entry hall, an auxiliary table, or a decorative accent in eclectic, contemporary classic, or Orientalism-inspired seventies interiors, it stands out for the quality of its craftsmanship, the richness of its finishes, and the harmonious fusion between Japanese decorative arts and the Italian interpretation of luxury.
