Amethyst on agate – Monumental XXL Heart on a pedestal – Ametista do Sul, Brazil – 57 kg – 63 × 53 × 22 cm
Exceptional specimen of amethyst on agate from Ametista do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
This imposing piece of 57 kg features a remarkable crystallized cavity of amethyst, naturally surrounded by a substantial structure of agate and quartz.
The main face reveals a very large concentration of amethyst crystals, with hues ranging from light lilac to deeper violet. The crystals display numerous well-formed terminations and offer strong brilliance under light.
One of the major interests of this specimen also lies in its perimeter. Polishing allows observation of the transition between the outer matrix, the different zones of agate and quartz, and then the crystallization of amethyst located at the heart of the piece.
The overall shape naturally evokes a heart. It has been highlighted by cutting and polishing work while retaining a significant part of the natural morphology and matrix of the specimen.
The reverse side is particularly interesting: it preserves a large part of the natural matrix, with zones of grayish, beige, green and blue-green tones contrasting strongly with the violet of the amethyst. This part allows appreciation of the geological structure of the piece and gives it interest both as a decorative item and as a mineralogical piece.
The ensemble rests on a black metal base made specifically to support this 57 kg piece, allowing it to be displayed vertically as a true exhibit piece.
