Description from the seller
Montagnani – Punto Bacola – Four-piece Italian coffee set – probably from the 1980s
A specially designed four-piece coffee set from Montagnani L. & C. of Florence, Italy, with designer credit Punto Bacola. The set consists of a coffee pot, a milk jug, a sugar bowl, and a matching rectangular serving tray with glass, mirrored surface.
The sculptural cone shapes, angular handles, and geometric lid knobs give the ensemble a distinctly modernist look with references to Art Deco. The glossy nickel-plated metal contrasts beautifully with the black plastic knobs and handles. The coffee pot, milk jug, and sugar bowl have loose, removable lids.
On the undersides there are original labels with the markings ‘Montagnani L. & C. Firenze Italy’ and ‘CM Designer Punto Bacola’. Il Punto Bacola was founded in 1983 in Florence by architect, artist, and designer Massimo Podestà and was active in design, architecture, art, and graphic design. The set is likely from the eighties; the exact design and production year has not been established.
The set shows visible signs of age and use, including scratches, local discolorations, and light wear to the finish and inside of the pots and tray. These give the ensemble its vintage character. Please study the photos carefully for a good impression of the details and condition.
Online on various sales sites such as Pamono and Charish, this set is offered for more than $3,000
The tray measures about 50 cm long and 27.5 cm wide. The total weight of the four-piece set is 3380 grams.
A characterful ensemble for lovers of Italian design, suitable for display on a sideboard or within a collection of design objects.
